Philbert, Mark, pros: its less expensive 60-70 shipped, less moving parts. Cons: its shorter so there is 2 cutters up not 4, it won't grip as tightly for EXTREMELY heavy handed filing.

I only ever use the first clamp Mike. I file one right and one left at a time. It holds just fine for me.

I was wondering if it was easier filing on one end of the vise or with it flat. I'm guessing flat is good for you?

Yep. I file the whole way down mine.

I flip my chain around, vice is on a bench so I cannot walk around to backside.

If there is one tool that has helped me get a chain really, really sharp, it is this device.

I milled 7 tanks thru an 088 on one sharpening, pretty awesome.

i flip my chain around also like redoak does kinda makes it where you dont have a weak side

Round filing I do it from one side. Square I do both sides at once.
