That was painful to watch
There was nothing in that video that couldn't have been achieved better with regular wedges. But it at least demonstrates the felling cone in use. What I'd like to see is that cone or cones buried in a much larger tree, producing all the lift promised by the cone's large end diameter, and having been driven by the battery tool alone. I'd put it to use in some 3-4' and dense/heavy gums and video that if he'd send me one to test ;-)

For now though, I'll keep using 20t bottle jacks.

*edit* Just had a thought it might also be useful if the tree sits back, collapsing the kerf, before a wedge is in. Might be able to use the cone to open the kerf back up and free the saw.

It's good to see discussion flowing and a few different ideas! I'll try the bottle jack idea for now on a few of the easier leaners, should be able to thin the pack some.

Hell im "almost" wishing I didn't take on this contract, but the money was too good to pass up plus these are the jobs I enjoy if I'm being honest

The peoe at Madsens are very nice to work with. They try hard to get what you need. They've been in the saw business for a long time. They are very knowledgable in every area. They did build work saws in years past. They have lots of stuff for all of us. 800-822-2808. I've used them for quite a few years now. Good luck!

I will. They said they couldn't sell me a Stihl chain loop.

I called them, spoke to a woman, gave her the number, she gave me a price, when it came time for my address, as soon as I gave it to her, she said she couldn't sell it to me. Out of her area. She checked with someone, and I heard No in the background.
Not sure what else I could say.

I really like them, I think because the are really hard for a wedge and the STIHL wedges are soft... They work good together.
Now if it's a real bad leaner I just use this thing to pull it backwards.View attachment 56430
I'd like to see video of that in action...
