@Armbru84 sent this beast my way to get a little tlc.
I'll be giving it a thorough, and replacing all maintenance items. There's also talk of having a little bit of port work done to it.

I'll be doing this teardown and build in real time so please be patient.

Here's a few pics of the muffler. I don't think the base will be salvageable.

That is not an SP muffler, the SP mufflers were rectangular. The saws had a cover over the muffler when new...

Well...I ran into a major roadblock here. My first though was a bad bearing when the pto side crank stub wiggled. My thought was confirmed when I saw this through the exhaust..
    20180113_142444.jpg
I pulled the oil tank to get a better look and I see what appears to be a new crank and bearings.

    20180113_154246.jpg

A little more wiggling and I could then see the oils sweating up and down between the outer bearing race and case. It appears that the last bearing spun in the case enough to enlarge the hole.

Well that really sucks. I have a growing collection of Pioneer p series cases with the same problem. I wish there was a fix for it.

I see the compression release now that you say that.

I already mentioned to Jim that it is possible to bore the crankcase and install a sleeve to house the bearing if needed.

Would that work on other saws as well?
