On these Mac parts first remember the big saws,797,125 etc were built in a time "old growth" were still being cut .I'm certain they were very costly then as well . There are parts but you have to search for them .On E-bay some might be reasonable and some outrageous in price .It would stand to reason more should be available on the Pacific coast because that's where they were used .
There are others like Mike Acres in Burnaby BC ,Bob in Maryland New York ,perhaps Rich Dougan AKA "saw king " in Myrtle creek Oregon . Scot at "chainsawr".
You have to have a great deal of patience when dealing with anything old .It's not like trotting on down to auto parts store and buying a set of piston rings for a Chevy 350 or the recoil handle for a Stihl 066 from a dealer .

Then you have to remember what they are ,big old draft horses made for big wood and long bars .They don't even work hard until the wood gets over 30 inches ,there and larger is where they take the lead .Up to that point a good running 70-80 cc saw more modern will outrun them . That fact is probably why they last so long because they don't get used that much . I have 5 saws over 100 cc and I know for a fact I haven't fired a one up in over 5 years and most likely will have to rebuild the carbs to ever get them to run again .---which is not a big deal,I'm pretty good at it ----

Curious if anyone can help me out with this handle crossbar? I purchased a couple of these and the mounting g holes line up with the mounts on the 797 and the length is correct in relation the the bar width, but I am curious if the width I am measuring matches up with the width on an original 797 crossbar? Would anyone be willing to measure there bar for me and let me know?

Discard the rubber mounts as the 797's didn't use them. 795's did and not sure why
although I have some with the mounts but according to the ipl's I have 797s don't
have them. Your brace will mount directly to the fuel tank.

Do you notice any less vibs with the rubber mounts, I realize they aren’t correct but do they help? I added them to my 797, and vibs seen less, but if lower mounts crack more often the I would swap it out. I have hear guys say a 797 is a white hand saw from vibs, mine isn’t that way

I've never run one all day, Just here and there for my big logs and gtgs. I would guess with any
rubber type mount it is going to absorb some vibration and your hands should notice a liking
at the end of the day. My guess as to why Mcculloch didn't offer them on 797's is because they
are more of a pro fallers saw or landing saw where cutters were looking for the most power
and wrenching on the saw with the dogs. The mounts may not have taken the betting and once
they are broken the wrap handle is only held by the lower mount unlike an SP125.

From my observation I think the sheer weight of the reeders takes the shake out of them .Something like the later lighter weight 10-10 series can rattle the teeth right out of your head .Then again some do and some don't .

Curious, has anyone here ever dealt with a Larry out of Milwaukie, Oregon for chainsaw parts or bought saws from him (Know if this individual is a member on this forum?). Hope this is okay to ask.
I'm in Portland which is like 2 miles from Milwaukie and I haven't heard of this guy. If someone gets an address and needs me to get parts, let me know, cause I'd like to find a supply of parts close.

I'd like to know what he has or doesn't have.

I have traded some phone messages with Larry in Milwaukee, OR some while back. He was looking for some SP125 parts that I had but never followed up to close the deal.

Mark, I'm always interested in 125 parts. What do you have that you are letting go.
