Mastermind Meets The MS500i

Ok gents. This saw is odd enough to get me to post a thread about it. I even got my real camera out for it.

It's not that the fuel injection part was really interesting.....nor the port layout. But the disassembly.

So here we go.

Sorta cool way to hold on the hood....




Ain't nuttin to the throttle body.




Lot's of wires here......but it's all simple stuff.

Ok.....unplug the wire from the front two connections. The rear connection is just for the kill switch.



Removing this piece allows access to unhook the fuel lines.

Take these two screws out.....but don't bother to wrestle with the handlebar.



Then these two.....



And this one....



Unhook the fuel lines here.



Unhook the coil lead....

Now it just sorta slides apart.



The injector and wiring. And the reason it's best to pull the fuel tank.



Then just unhook this little wire here...



And pull the jug....

Now a look at the muffler baffle. Just seems to be made to direct the sound toward the recoil side.

This sorta reminds me of a 200T LOL



But this does not.

The jug and port layout is pretty ordinary.





Well.....the combustion chamber is a little different.

How does the 500 compensate for the mods? Does it tune itself? Or does it have to be reflashed ? I'm not familiar with how smart these saws are or aren't.

Dang I don't follow enough these days. I heard fuel injection was coming but didn't realize it was out. Dang look at all those wires and crap. I like my old school saws.

More air = more fuel. Simple.

The harder I make it run.....the more air it's gonna pull into it.

I noticed that you did not take down the pull cord assembly, flywheel, ignition module, etc. I guess that's all old hat. Something has to be. Right? Also, how easy is it to check for a good spark?
