Had a couple of tanks through the 352 today thinning Douglas feels quite nimble de-limbing it feels like it will get stronger and stronger will take out the muffler gauze and give it a tune as well it feels like it needs some more fuel on pick up
Gonna have a play with clutch drums this week and see what else ull fit in there
But like it loads a saw worth preaching about the 420 is sulking

How durable does the quick chain adjust seem? Most saws I've used them on seem pretty cheesy. Wonder if the Dolmar setup could swapped easily enough? ...doubt it.

I've got a quick chain adjust on my Husky 450 and love it. Easy to use and no tools to carry. I wish everyone of my saws had the same set up.

Hopefully, Dolmar has worked out any issues and it will also be trouble free.

The mods took a fair bit of work - not something for the fainthearted. The 450 is a bored out 445, so everything is 9% too small for a 50cc engine. I had to open up the transfer tunnels to not only flow the extra 9%, but I widened the transfers another 12.5% to bring the cutting speed up. So, at one point I had to increase the area of the tunnels 21.5%. The whole back of the transfer tunnel covers have been ground out and built up with fiberglass and GB Weld. I spent a lot of time measuring the inside of the covers to get them to flow properly.

The carb is off a 570 and the choke rotates opposite to the 450, so I had to mod the carb with a new choke stop.

Its a neat little saw to work with, but I sure don't want to have to go back and do another one.

Thank you very much, I was gifted a 440 the other day and was curious. One last question though, why bore it? doesn't the 445/450 cylinder exchange?

He meant that the 445 model came first and Husqvarna just overbored the 445 to make it the 450.

Just wait until we get into the guts of this 3601. I want to see how that reed cage is designed.

It appears to me that this configuration of a saw has the most potential of any saw I've seen. If we get it working like I think it can be built, then I hope Dolmar duplicates the design in some of the bigger saws.

I've been studying the crankcase and it's interesting! Both halves fit in my hand, Lol

I need to study the intake and reeds to fully understand how this is working. But I want to run the saw a bit stock for a baseline before I tear it down.

Nate is there an IPL you can send me?
