Makita also owns Dolmar!

I really like the corded, electric Makita chainsaws. Surprised that they don't have a larger, stronger presence among battery powered chainsaws. 'Everybody else (from Lowes to Harbor Freight) has battery powered OPE.

*But we are pretty far off topic. Sorry.*

I was an auto tech for my first career so nearly all my power tools are pneumatic, that is what I am familiar with and accustomed to. I do have a Dewalt corded electric drill that has always worked really well for me. I have a USA made Skilsaw too, but it's more fun to use the chainsaw for cutting wood!!

@Dub11 going by the nomenclature I think it's 56ccs or so. It was mentioned that it is similar in design to the new 3601, I'm really interested in what both of these models do after one of our illustrious porters gets ahold of them!

Actually, someone said that it has more in common with the 6100.

Is it smaller than a 6100? Seems kinda confusing to have a 56cc and a 61cc.
slightly smaller and lighter. big difference is the 6100 is a pro saw while the 5600 is aimed at the farm and ranch market, makita is trying to directly take on the 271/291/311/ 391/2255/455/460/590/600. the only one of those with more power is the 391 and it only beats it by .1hp and the 5600 comes in right at the $400 mark

So it's a good deal, for sure!

. . . makita is trying to directly take on the 271/291/311/ 391/2255/455/460/590/600. . . .

Could be he good side of the 'Dolmar replacement' program; having these newer models promoted and more widely available?
