I have been interested in rechargeable chainsaws for a while now. I do several tree trimming jobs (small tree service and stump grinding).

For sometime I have seen where t would be nice to just make a few cuts between using the ht131 and think this saw will fit the bill.

DCCS690X1 dewalt 40volt brushless motor chainsaw. 16” bar 7.5amp hour battery.

Compared to a ms250 it is just under 2” longer. Maybe one thinner

Tomorrow it will go with me on a multiple small diameter tree clean up. Only thing I don’t think I’ll like is the thumb trigger for operator presence unlike a traditional lever. You just have to trigger it down initially then as long as your on the juice you can let it go.

You can always justify another saw.

I'm interested to hear your opinion on these. I've been considering a battery saw.
You'll get used to the lever. It kind of reminds me of the safety button on a circular saw that you have to push first. I can't imagine why.
:)

I made four cuts in 7” applewood and it seems pretty darn nice. Balance seemed initially good and it oils what seems like more than an ms250 I’ve run. Drivers are well oiled. Temps tomorrow will be in high 30s

Is that where the battery goes? I thought it was a cup holder.
I'm only kidding, what does the battery look like?

The battery is in the first picture in a charger.

Is it a lithium battery?
How does it stack up price and spec wise against a husky or makita battery saw, any idea?

This wasn’t a cheap endeavor out the door bought locally with tax was $460 not sure where others price at.

I went with dewalt only because I have always had outstanding performance I felt with there products. If I was willing to buy online I could have gotten cheaper for sure, but I still like to keep brick mortar business around so I try to support them

That looks like a respectable amount of work for a battery powered saw. Impressed.

What’s in the trailer plus the trees pictured on the ground was all cut with one battery. The large stuff in the trailer was punky. The stuff on the ground was rock hard and cut up to firewood length as pictured. The last of the one trunk the battery ran out of juice.

The saw doesn’t disappoint fr what it can do in one charge. I flushed the stumps as well with it. It sounds kind of like a hedge trimmer when operating. It is a little rear heavy but doesn’t bother me.

The oil tank I never filled and it ran out so a person should refill it during operation. I didn’t notice it until I was done cutting. Like I said before it’s a good Oiler.

I started charging the battery when I drove to the dump (115 colt plug in truck)and this battery takes I’m guessing over and hour to charge. After 52 minutes it was 2/3 charged. So in a perfect world a second battery would be really nice.

Great detail for the review. Thanks for putting it through it’s paces and showing us what it can do.
