It says it’s a McCulloch 795 on the top cover. I’ve had the saw for a while now. Got it at a yard sale. Someone took some parts off to try and paint it as far as I can tell it’s all there but I’ve not really messed with. To much other stuff going on. Should I look for something else to tell if it’s a different saw. I don’t know anything about the older saws

Can't go by the top cover. I've seen more Mac's with the wrong cover
it will make your head spin. Air filter covers often got destroyed and
replaced by a good used one off a 740, 790, 795, 797,840, 890, 895,
1-85, 1-86, etc. You need to go by the block number on the bottom
of the saw.

Ok awesome. Didn’t know that thanks for the help. I’ll try and check that this afternoon when I get home from work

Update:
Randy gave me a 797 Super at his GT in Tennesee :zpong:
I bought a box of parts on eBay that has a wacky ported cylinder, a handful of heads (none match the cylinder), some cranks and pistons and NOS wiseco rings and a flywheel cover.
Picked up a chrome flywheel cover on eBay.
plenty of giant carbs, sweet bars, race chains and sprockets
I've been reading all the threads here and on the AS relating to the 101B and checked my 797 (its not a 101)
Several guys recommended great builders to build the motor for me.
I'm slow but I am moving :)
