limbing saw project. It can be any kind except for Stihl (sorry Jeff!!! Lol). Dont know what kind I would like. It has to be a runner without mods, so mods make it a screamer. 16" bar at the most. Dolmar, Echo, Makita, ??? Whats your favorite little screamer? I've got all winter, looking for suggestions not to buy right now. Thanks.

You said 16" bar, so I'd say get a 346/353/351 bottom end (350 bottom end works good too but is plastic clamshell vs mag cases), and oe 45cc or 50cc ne 346xp topend (both are good). The 350 and 353 closed port topend runs good too. Just have to swap the 350 dished piston for a flat top 353 piston (simular to the 261/262 situation).

I sure like my 350 with the NE 346 top end that t4driller put together. It made a couple of stihl guys think long and hard about their allegiance to the creamsicles on the last tree job I made a cameo at.

Thats an option as well. But was it ported?

I would say just get a 550/562 since they have lightning fast throttle, solid performance and smooth AV. But you mentioned you want a project saw that has impressive performance....on a budget? I think the 346 series of saws fits that pretty good. I would not pass up a project 357/359 either, good performance for the money too.
