I put my 5ci chain on my 066 ported work saw once to see what it would cut. I can hear him at end of videos saying 1.09 1.09 1.06 with just a 8T. Not even turned up for gtg racing still fat for work.
Wood was either aspen or poplar left over from one of my racing gtg's back then.
No piston work, stock oem piston. Nothing fancy, just a good ole work saw. No squish cut or nothing. No carb work.

Saw was ported by Brent Combs from WV. But someone else had claimed to porting it but was a lie like usual. ;)

Got any close ups of the tooth?

I checked into getting a roll of hi tooth and our Stihl distributor said we could get a 100’ roll only. Very pricy, i didnt buy any, im not into bike saws or .404
Dave, a loop of that .404 HT on a diet would be real hungry on your 066 especially in the 8x8.

When I get a hold of that HT .063 chain I'll make one loop into .050 by putting the high tooth cutters on some Oregon 50AL I have on a roll.
This 50AL is .058 on the top half of the drive links.
Would be a great chain to run on a saw like your 066 and my YZ125 bikesaw.
All I need is find some .058 .404 Oregon preset links. If you or someone knows where I can buy some I'd like to make a deal.

Local came by with his Jason Egan ported work saw 3120 for me to tune after pulling the v-stack back off.
Ran great with it but no good when working around briars and brush. So back to foam oem set up. 2100 had the VS filter ripped off and 3120 kept getting hung up. So now 1 less thing to worry about.

Told him we going to turn it up someday and hit these pine cants I got here. Going to throw my 20" 3120 build off race chain I made on it and let him take it for a ride.
Pine can make a wild thing look fast with a decent chain IMHO. But what I have right now.

Testing in some dry ash with 20" 404.

Way it was.

That's real nice Kevin , a HL alky on a 3120, or is that a HR?

I found this 088 pic on the internet. Don't know whose it is.

3120 dont need that carb, they got all they need when Cliff Helsel gets in them. ;)

372 376 76cc with HL

I didnt feel the need pay the $550 to have mine 2mm stroked for the 1 tenth difference in cut times.

Thanks for posting that Kevin.
Yeah I remember that old thread over at C Repair. Good thread but thats about all there is about the high tooth on the internet. Is it called 46RS HT?
That HT chain from NY you posted there looks pretty hungry. He tunneled the back of the cutters, but didn't boat tail or stone them.

Logging in the black hills??

That was some uphill sleddin’ right there...
Lol..
Yep would take a couple of tough Norwegians to pull a crosscut up in them hills in big Ponderosa pine in the winter of 1909.
Looks like they were making good money from looking at their 3 piece suits while coming into town to check out the babes, Lol.

I took my family up in the Black Hills with 28 ft camper in tow summer of 2012. Beautiful country lots of Ponderosa pine unfortunately dying from the pine beetle .
Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse monument, Sturgis, Deadwood classic car meet. Lots to see there.
Good logging still around Deadwood.
My Grandpa ended up buying land in Saskatchewan with Grandma in 1910 and started a life of farming, with winter logging as this pic shows how logging was done in Saskatchewan in those early days.
