Picked up a model 8071? I think. Pull start is on the bottom. Never seen that before. Came with side chute, bag, hanger and side discharge plate. Self propelled. Nonrunner right now, but that can be fixed. Other than that, seems decent shape. $25.

IMG_0530.JPG I was wrong on a few counts with this one.
It's a model 8073.
It has the recoil on the side. The pull rope goes through a guide at the base, then up to the bottom of the recoil.
It has spark so I was pleased. Shot some mix into the carb and it started.
Sweet!
Cleaned out the tank and put fresh in it, choked it and it fired right up. Adjusted the carb and hums along nicely.
I like these mowers.

Pics of the 8073 deck before, during and after. I used a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder with flap sandpaper 80 grit to strip it. About 1 1/2 hours to strip it. Cleaned the bare metal with paint prep solution then primerd it with Duplicolor Rust Tough grey primer. Two coats of Duplicolor Grabber Green engine paint.

My silver series runs well, but the wheels are a mess and are wobbling badly. I may have to re-mount them...

Got the carb issues rung out. Now I've got to take care of the kill mechanism. It won't kill. Probably wind removing it to clean better than what I can get to with it in.

Checked out the grounding lever. Pretty simple affair and was working fine. Found the grounding wire had come off of the coil. Shuts down fine now. Lined the fittings on the rear wheels and adjusted the drive cable. Just got to clean it up now.

Do any o you green mower aficionados ave any idea where I could get at least a LH drive wheel/mechanism or a new/old pair for a 10550 model Lawn Boy? The plastic gears have cracked out and the wheel is wobbling. Badly. Thanks in advance!!!

With so many Lawnboys now, I think I'm starting to come up with a system of deciding which to pay the most attention to first. The regular push type get looked at to see if I can flip them pretty easily. Unless they are an aluminum or magnesium deck. I like those. Self propelled are more likely to be keepers. (I'm lazy when it comes to pushing a mower). A couple I have zeroed in on that I acquired. A two stroke electric start in nice shape and another with a blade clutch. Also in nice shape.

Picked a couple more this evening. A silver series and a utility steel deck, non staggered wheel.
