I'm a total nerd for Japanese machinery so seeing real Zenoah products coming back would be really cool. Sadly, it looks like what we will get are Chicom produced Zenoah designs and rebadged Jred/Husky.

I just don't friggin' understand it. Those saws are about as Redmax as a Saab is a Toyota.

Maybe they realized that some chainsaw weirdos on the interwebs will actually buy them just to put Jred stickers on them.
It be really cool of them to do an introductory discount of 50% of MSRP just to get there name out lol.

I feel the REDMAX name change should of happened when they cancelled the old distribution network that Tilton lost control of. In my territory the Redmax name if far more popular than the Jonsered name and atleast it's easier to pronounce.

I figured it would be even more than that. Nobody disputes that Redmax is a major player in weedeaters and blowers. It's the mindless idea of Jred rebranded to Redmax=Redmax becomes a huge force in saws that is the real point of contention here.

When has Poulan last had a noteworthy saw?

The 330/380 was it and only up to 60cc, prior to that the PP505/475 I think. It is sad what they did to a (former) great name and there does seem to be a pattern developing.

Still some uncertainty as to what's going on. My rep was in last week with the new line up. Only pro saws being retained as Red Max are the former 2252, (the lone AT entry), then a big jump to the 2172 and then the 2188. Everything in between the 2252 and 2172 is being left out. There is no 2253, 2258, 2260 or 2166. Way too big a gap IMO. The original Red Max version of the 543XP is there also, but the 543 doesn't sell as it is. The rest of the line consists of Red Max versions of the 440, 450 and top and rear handle variants of the T435, which was sourced from Red Max.

Anyway, he sees that we are dumping the saws, and there's only about 5 left, and he asks, "Are you dropping the saws?" And my answer was , "No, you are."

There's another wild card here that is still very unclear. The Jonsered brand will continue in some form as part of the Weedeater/Poulan/Poulan Pro group. @166 can post a pic of the Jonsred booth at GIE/EXPO. I haven't yet seen what model saws will be sold through that distribution channel. I suspect it will be all homeowner stuff, but when we see the program I'll list them here.

So, it's mass confusion for now. The brand is going away, it's changing to Red Max, but it's not really going away, It's gonna be in this store but not that store, and you can't get that saw with this decal. Yeah, I really want to explain all that 600 times to my customers. 5 more saws and I'm all orange.

How about this from the RM new program: Saws can no longer be ordered PHO. They must be ordered with a bar and chain combo. 2188 has just 2 choices. You can't get it with a 20" or 24"; only comes with 18" and 28". Yup. And remember, someone got PAID to write that program.
