Jonsered 625/630/670 saws are my favorite for many reasons. But as of late rubber av saws have been bothering me. So I gave up on older saws.
Talked with @Dub11 some this morning and my interest in these has been rejuvenated!
Here's what we came up with,
These saws have the large av mount up front and 2 sets of small mounts on the rear. Well the husky 262 spring AV mounts are the large mount diameter but too long.

If you look at the 262 mount there is 4 tight winds around an inner threaded sleeve.
I bottomed out a screw and tightened down the sleeve inside the spring like this.

With a little trial and error I ended up taking off 1.5 winds off the spring to make it the same length as the rubber mount. I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel to cut the spring.

It's currently -11*F so I only ran the saw 10 min or so. But definitely less vibes, next to none on the front handle and less on the rear. I'm super excited about this!

Thought some of you guys might like this, I know I forgot some of you guys that like these saws.

Never even thought of such. I guess the vibes don’t bother me. I think they have soft and hard rubber buffers too maybe the soft would help vibes.

I think this trick would also work for the 288 front mounts, the rear there are spring mounts available already.

How hard is it to "thread" an aluminum rod to screw in to a spring?

I'm not sure, I've never tried. I bet you'd have to make a HSS cutter to match the wire diameter and then find a pitch your machine can do that is close to the spring pitch.

Not AV related but 670 related. @Spike60 @Onan18 how rare is a KS 670 cylinder?
I have been into a bunch of these and everyone has been a mahle. Picked up a 670 at an out of town dealer this week. And it has a ks! Kinda cool I think.

Nice job John! As of now vibes don’t bother me, don’t even notice them actually and I prefer the feel of a rubber mounted saw. I’ve been known to take springs out of 2-series saws and replace them with rubber:rolleyes:. But if that changes I’ve got this mod stored away in my saved threads.
