It is a bit of a mutt, could have an engine from an 029-039, it’s an older screw cap saw with a bubble top ms top/handle, and now there is no id on top. Without talking it apart who knows!

It's the older 0 series saw as stated above. ie 029/039. The MS series had flippy caps and most had the rounded (humped) orange plastics. this saw has the humped plastic cylinder cover and the flat style air filter cover. the cylinder cover has been changed because those humped style were only on the MS series. The air filter cover which is not humped will not match with the cylinder cover so that's something that's screwed up right off the bat.

FWIW, the 029S and MS290 share the same engine. The 039 and MS390 share the same engine.
Most of the 029 and 029S models had .325 chain and most 039 models had 3/8" pitch chain so that would be a clue as to which model it is. No matter which 1127 series saw it is, it's not worth $300 in that condition. More in the $150 range if it runs good. If the pawn shop thought they bought an 044, fie on them, that doesn't make it worth more than a beat up, cobble job 1127 series saw.

Utah, unfortunately.....
So the general consensus is that this is a flogged on piece of *s-word? Correct?

And the pawn shop is either A) looking to screw over some poor bastard, or B) operated by a bunch of dumbshits?

Moving on....In other news, there is a customer at the Ranch store that has brought in his MS362C-M with an 18" blade about five times. Twice for it "leaking" bar oil in his case, after he gets done using it, and now three times for it leaking black oil out of the exhaust.....?

I say 029 and not 039, final answer. Most 039's were sold with a 20" or 25" bar. It's a clamshell, so not an 044 by any means. The price is $100 too high, even if it runs.

All wrong...that's the elusive 044444.4444.444.44.4 saw. Looks like it's time for a little school circle on saw ID!
