Hello all,
I posted my intro over here because i don't know where to place it.
My name is Thomas and i am 18 years old. I am planning to go on a course to become arborist in a year or 2-3.
I also try to repair saws if the problems with it are possible to solve. Because i don't have all the special tools that i need to do that kind of work. I will kick off my first post with a picture of my husqvarna 365 that i bought an hour ago as a project saw. Cylinder and piston are fine, but the covers etc need some work. Think i am gonna buy new ones for it.

I don't know yet, the original recoil starter isn't with it. There is one of the 371XP on it now. Can we tell that from the serial number if it is a special or normal?

As you can see, the saw has been used very well. Things that i want to change first:
A original recoil starter.
A new muffler

After i want to repaint the crank case at the muffler side, And the clutch cover.
After that i want to replace the brake handle, the top cover and the airfiltercover.

I'd fix the broken screw and run the snot out of it
Yes want to try it but don't know how. i need a way to get that screw out without messing it up.
I'm not a fan of drilling in the muffler.

I could be wrong but I believe the early version 365 had the chain adjuster on the case in the front. The specials were on the cover. Also the 365 had a open port cylinder where the special has the closed port. The tag also has letters SP after the 365. There is alot you can do to that saw.

You are correct about that, it is a normal one.

Welcome! My first build was a 365. Its a slippery slope. It looks like a solid saw to start with. Wouldnt worry about paint and such, learn saw basics forst....as for the recoil, only difference is a sticker. Easy fix there...my spare recoil says 375K.

Welcome to a great message board.

My fathers 2000 model 365 special has an open port cylinder?
