Good point. I might have increased the weight of my converted saw by an ounce or so. Meanwhile, I built a running chain saw with an additional 1/4 horsepower to boot. What's fair got to do with it?
Those MS260 plastics? Doesn't look like an 024.Here's one (024 to 026) that I did two years ago:
View attachment 144913View attachment 144914 As a worn out 024 parts saw, it needed a new air filter, new plastic, and a new top end. That was expensive. So, I bought new 026 plastic, carb, top end, and air filter. Then I added an outer bumper spike. I only made one mistake: I sold the converted saw.
Because I'd like to see how two 42cc pro saws from a similar timeframe compare. No reason other than my own curiosities and enjoymentWhats fair got to do with it?
I don't think that would work as I believe the stroke is different.I just did an 024s-026 top end, have wanted to do a standard 024 to 026 top end
Stroke is different, but the measuring that I have done, the 024-024s-026 are the same distance from the base to squish band, so I think it is doable, the squish on my 024 was almost .035 without a gasket, I think it would be about the same with 026 jug, and a little cut off the base and it should work, haven’t done it yet so I don’t know what the port timing would be like thou.I don't think that would work as I believe the stroke is different.
No, I recall those were 026 -- PRO, in fact. You can see the decomp opening in the shroud that the 026 needed. I filled that in.Those MS260 plastics? Doesn't look like an 024.
026 plastic has the tag in the top to identify, the ms260 has the bubble top like yours, and the starter cover had the round badge that says ms260. Not sure if they made an ms260 plastic without the decomp hole, I have seen many ms260’s that were not pro ‘s but had the decomp hole plugged from the factory? Also seen a few late model 026 no pro with a decomp plastic plugged. No, I recall those were 026 -- PRO, in fact. You can see the decomp opening in the shroud that the 026 needed. I filled that in.
