The bikes you guy's are talking of are mostly before my time but my 1st bike was a Honda QR50 early 80's from there the rest is history I was hooked..
Anyway I've always liked 2T's here's one of my bikes a 1990 KX250 I fully restored it only thing I paid a pro to do was press/rebuild the crank all up cost was about 5k to rebuild the bike I sourced parts from all over the world but worth it you only live once!..

I had quite a turn with 2Ts from the late 60s thru the mid 80s.

Started with a Royal Nord when I lived in Belgium.

Then Kawasaki A7SS when I got back to the states.

Started racing MX in 73 with a Husky CR125, then 74 KX125, 75 was a Maico 250AW, then 79 Kawasaki KX125A4. Turned to road racing started with an RD350 then onto a TR350.

2T bikes ended with a Yamaha RZ500 then common sense set in. Made my living from 73 thru 84 in the MC industry.

I love 2Ts saws allow me to dabble in it without exposing myself to distracted drivers.

Certainly

Hodaka
Combat Wombst, Super Rat among others

Carabella as I recall was a Mexican knockoff of something.

Ossa, Montessa, Penton, Rickman, CZ of course and Jawa.

Many cool old 2 stroke brands.

Oh and Can Am

.
I'm old enough to remember all those brands! Even had a Jawa sidecar.

What is this 4 strokes you speak of?? Lol

There wasn’t much that was better than sitting on top of your van in the infield at Daytona watching King Kenny slinging his TZ750 around.

I was a Kawasaki wrench 72, and 73, got a pink slip and a frozen turkey Xmas 73. Only related job I could find with snow on the ground was Slinging Z1s to graduating marine leuys right outside the main gate of Quantico 74 thru 78. Then sales manager for 3 Yamaha Stores in nova til 84.

If we sold it I road it, if you wanted to trade it in I road it along with racing MX and later road racing as an average amateur.

I spent a ton of time with the guy linked below.

He’s the one that found me the job slinging Z1s to jarheads. I met him when he crashed at an MX race in 74 laying off the track holding his torn up knee. Got the medics to take care of him. 3 months later job hunting ran into him at a Suzuki store and he told me about the Kawasaki job. He followed along in the spring and we worked together thru 84, there were many epic trips to the races.

I understand and that is a beautiful bike. I learned to ride on a Kawasaki 60 back in 87.

I still ride. KTM 300 with a Lectron carb. I haven't messed with the carb in a while and cant really remember how it works but there are no jets to mess with, just a metering rod. I have the stock Keihin carb also and it is jetted real nice, actually gives the bike more arm ripping power. The Lectron delivers a nice linear power, great for trail riding.

I had a Lectron on an XT 500. Good power and easy to tune. You got several needles with it that had a flat taper cut along the side. Rough tuning was finding the right needle and fine tuning involved turning that flat needle face with respect to the air flow through the carb. A White Brothers pipe and SuperTrapp muffler took care of the other end. Good old days!

Then you need an Austrian supermoto. They are designed exactly for this, for fun. Those old school 2 strokes were strong but unreliable.I had a 2000 cr 250(1st gen aluminum frame) and it needed piston replacement quite often.4 stroke KTM you can ride until you feel your arms get longer.

MX was my life for a lot of years. I raced a few years as a teen, loved freeriding my whole life and dabbled in FMX the last few years I rode. I still have my YZ250, but I usually only go putt around with my boy now. My favourite bike was a 2001CR250 chassis I put an ‘85 CR500 engine in
