I didn't know concrete could be so damn hard!

I've drilled quite a bit of concrete in my life, but none as hard as my own. I set a Knaack chest on my garage pad(30yrs old) using 1/2" wedge anchors drilled 3" deep. I bought two Bosch blue bits and barely got four holes drilled. Those holes about beat me, even using a corded HD Milwaukee hammer drill. It must be 5K psi concrete and cured very well. Good grief!!??!!
Is this the time when one needs a rotary hammer?

I've been there. I had to drill 8 holes in a 1950's floor to anchor some weight lifting equipment. Dewalt 1/2" hammer drill and the same bits you used. It took two of us a couple of hours and several bits. Hardest concrete I've ever seen.
