I’ve only have used a hammer to peen a bar tip rivet into shape. It works, but is there a better method? Can you use a hydraulic press? I have one sitting here and have never used it for that. Just checking because I need 3 rivets and no extras to play with.

A punch with a bigger point will expand it to help tighten them up.

So if I’m understanding correctly, use a punch to expand it out a little and then hammer to flatten it? I just used a little ball peen before. It seemed ok, but I’d theres’ a better way I’d like to try.

Flatten and use a punch to tighten it up if it's not tight enough
