I'm fixing up a 2100CD and need to make a muffler gasket.

Have a look at the weld beads in the muffler port that hold the crush tubes in place.

Would you guys grind those down or is it a waste of time?

I'm not even sure if the flange on the muffler is square to the exhaust port on the cylinder.

Nice older 50mm 372xp OE I went through and modded. New clutch springs and she’ll be set to go. Stress tested it with the 32”. If it had problems they’ll show up fast with the long bar! 2070CC1E-B034-41AB-8490-684E98DBA08B.jpeg

CAD bit me in the arse today. Stopped in a pawn shop today that always has a bunch of cheap junky saws for cheap, my favorite kind. Amidst overpriced Stihls and duct taped Poulans was a 2016 Husky 440 with very low miles. All the paint still on the (optimistic) 18" bar, all decals intact, muffler was shiny and rust free, probably somebody's occasional storm cleanup saw. No goofy tool-less chain tensioner sealed the deal.

TSC sells the 440 new for $300.00 plus tax. It was stickered at $200.00 and came home with me for $175.00 total. Not the best deal in the world, but not the worst either. So, what do I have here? I know the 440 is a plastic homeowner saw, but I have always gotten good service out of its Poulan cousins and I figure my Echo CS-400 needs a backup.

Good little saws although a bit underpowered for the weight.
The 450 it's big brother is my favorite stock plastic saw and has almost identical specs as a 353, I'm not sure if you can swap a 450 cylinder onto the 440 or not, but I would guess you can.
They last very well so being what I'm guessing(again) is the smallest in that family it should last a long time. I know a guy who used the 445 for many yrs as his only saw for a firewood business, he said he cut 200 cord with it and he doesn't really do any maintenance.

Thanks bro. Yeah, I noticed it is about the same physical size as my Echo CS-500P although somewhat lighter. Already ordered a 16" bar and 20BPX semi-chisel chain for it.

I cut up a few dead pines about that size some years ago. About like cutting through half-dried
Elmer's glue!

Should be a great saw for that as long as you're patient with it.

Nearly all my sawing is done with 30-40cc saws, so you could say I'm used to it!
I have a lot of 35-50cc saws, more than most have in saws total, they make me a good amount of money, I do a good amount of invasive removals, no need for a 50 when everything is 5" and smaller.

What is the good, bad, and ugly of the Husqvarna 61s? Just bought one cheap because the recoil was siezed. Simple fix, back the screw off to allow the cup to turn, and reinstall the recoil spring in the proper direction. It is an older white top rancher without a chain brake. Will post photos in the day light.

What mods can I do to make this saw better? Obviously a good tune, sharp chain, and a muffler mod to start with.
