i would think the 576 top end would work? not sure what difference is honestly. pto bearings were known to spin in the pocket, ruining the case half

I have a 575 parts saw that I believe the cylinder and piston are good in. I'd need some time to tear into it and confirm

Can be worth it depending on who you ask. I say they are a fine cutting smooth running machine. Like most modern saws you have to look at the bottom first before you can get to the top. Husqvarna has a new replacement seal for these that has a different "more better" material for older versions that I highly recommend installing.

Came home with me today, scored cylinder. Will tear it down to pressure and vacuum test on day. The guy I got it from has another 346 for me next time I see him.

I have a 570, good firewood saw with a 28" bar. Only the 570/575 interchange as mentioned. I have not had thr chance to run a 576.

Ran cross a 570 yesterday with a blown top end, just what I was looking for, will p&V test the cases to make sure all's well before we operate and throw the good top end on- always like to checkout why they packed it in to begin with.

Yep, they had that funky pto bearing that had premature failures early on didnt they?

Like just about all new saw's, they won't take well to abuse such as being run with a dull chain.
The seals were updated I believe and in my limited experience a good investment.
@Spike60 could give you a much better skinny than I can.

Correct on the 576 being different from the 570/575.

The bearing issue...….was it the bearing itself, or was something else taking out the bearing?

Well, it wasn't the bearing. Whole thing was dimensionally off. The trick, (unpublished), when rebuilding a 575 bottom end is to use 2 case gaskets. The crank superseded once and the crankcase twice. There were no service bulletins, so we are in the dark as far as dates go, as well as what changes were made. That PTO bearing was shared with a few other saws, 346/2153, 576. Original application for that bearing was the Jonsered 2077/2083 family, so it's been around a good long time, and can be considered a proven part. The seal did update at some point, and there was a vendor change, but it was not specific to address the 575 problem.

575 OEM top ends are already NLA. Seems a bit early to me, but it has been over 10 years since they made them. Huztl has a kit for $18 that probably works OK if it's not going to be used in a serious commercial application.

top end I will be using is OEM and in good shape... getting used to replacing the 390 one... crap there must be a place where you don't have to pay 56 bucks for them - buy a crap load and replace every 385-390 I rebuild I imagine the 375 is about the same $ but what can ya do.

I rebuilt a 575 a few years back for a friend had a bottom end issue as most I think it was either the seal or the bearing didn't fit right in the crank case as the bearing had spun in the case ruining the case. I widened the exhaust a little and removed the base gasket. Was a smooth running saw but as far as power wouldn't come close to touching my stock dolmar 7900. Never really ran any 372's so not sure how it stacked up power wise.

575 is kind of a underrated saw. It gets a bum rep. Not a 372 in any way. Not as high strung but a very forgiving powerband and loads of torque for it's size. Very smooth av and easy on fuel.

Think I'm going to keep the one I have now. I kicked myself for selling my last. Anybody has a good oem cyl the op passes on let me know. Mine is far from perfect, but runs surprisingly well.

Keep your eyes on HL Supply. I bought an OEM 575 top end kit for under $100 during a black Friday sale last year. Still haven't used it but have plans to convert my 570 into a 575 some day.
