I have a 550 xp auto tune that would die everytime I would take my finger off the throttle and then try to throttle up again. Today we had ArborMaster come to our location for fours days of training. I tell one of the guys my issues. He shows us how to "reset or retrain" the auto tune.

He took about a 10' bolt and starts ripping with the grain for at least 90 seconds at full throttle. You can hear the saw make a few coughs, hiccups whatever you want to call them. By the end of the 90 seconds the saw is running smoothly. It ran like a champ the rest of the day, it never died!

Full throttle in some wood for 90 seconds that is the key. Give it a try before tearing into the carb.

Thanks for the info Craig! This may very well be the best or "correct" way to reset the AT system, but not everyone has a 10' length of log handy to do this. ;) Plus, is this reset required for every drastic temperature change? For instance, last time the saw was used it was say 10F outside. Next time it's used, the temp is 60F. Do I now need to make a 90 second cut for the AT to reset and run properly? If so, it would be much faster and more efficient with a carb and a screwdriver. :p

Its says to do that in the owners manual on all AT saws.

You shouldn't need to do it all the time, but sometimes you can hear the saw coughing or whatever for a few seconds before it'll smooth out.

This method of resetting the carb is not described in the latest husky 560 manual.

Yes the same with my 31 week of 2016 550XP. It no longer recommends it, probably too many lean seizures from past AutoTunes run for 5 minutes at WOT with no load:D

Reviving this thread. Ijust bought a new 550 a few weeks ago. Ran beautiful right out of the box. No bog issues, good power etc. I get it out 2 nights ago to cut up some locust and I was ready to throw it at a tree. Ran ok in the cut, maybe a little off but it developed the off idle stumble. Bad. I figured since it was ball freezing cold out it just needed to relearn. 1/2 cord into it I gave up and got my 346. It ran fine. Didn't seem to mind the 8*F weather. So I get the 550 out today, put the winter kit on, swap filters, and punch the hole in the partition. No change. I remembered this thread so I knocked the brass plug out. Mine was 1 1/8 turn out from factory. I went out another 1/4 turn on it and ran it. Definitely made a difference. It's usable now. Not as crisp as I'd like but It's still tight and not broken in yet so I'm gonna leave it where it's at for now. Just wanted to bump this back up and say thanks to the OP.

My brand new 550XP problems I described in this thread, got so bad that I eventually got my dealer to swap it out for another new one for no charge.
When I first bought the saw I didn't know Husqvarna offers a 7 day replacement guarantee.
After my dealer got involved with a long drawn out erratic warranty claim with Husqvarna he just replaced the saw with a new one and took the loss.

I sold my brand new 550XP last night. Only has about 1 hour run time on it.
I upgraded the cheap laminated bar with a Sandvik Windsor Mini Pro non laminated bar.
Customer gave me $600 Cad ($487USD) cash for it.
I got a sweet MS261CM ll that's a keeper.
Presently selling my brand new 1993 Husqvarna 272XP with only 5 tanks cutting run time on it.
Asking $700 Cad ($568 USD).

Here's the 550XP I sold.

I corrected the info on my "brand new" 1993 Husqvarna 272XP in the last post.
It has 5 tanks running time not 5 minutes. Had a little memory fart there as it has been 4 years since I've last run it.

Hello! Hope that I'm posting in the right topic.
I need the block off plates for the 562xp.
Can somebody tell me if these are the correct PN's?

2. 575 29 81-01
3. 574 70 12-01
4. 503 84 40-03
