My 2172 had an even bigger opening than that... It was squared all the way front to back with a welded on deflector and no spark screen. It sounded awesome and I didnt have any problems tuning it.
I'm trying to decide if this one will get another front opening. I have 3 mufflers so one is just for playing.

Normally, is the size of the muffler openings based on the size of the exhaust port? Also, is there a down-side to performance if you open the muffler too much other than hurting your ears?

I recently acquired a 2007 Husqvarna 372xp. Is this the model that ports well? Advantages , disadvantages? Looking for porting ideas that has worked out best for folks and ill probably wanna port for a 24 to 28" bar. Best bar length chain combination , best carb for it? Thanks guys. It will be wearing a pro safety full wrap bar that hadnt made it here yet. Spikes? Pro safety 4 pt or 5 pt or magnum oem?View attachment 6089View attachment 6090
Cut with it yet..stock? Also, what type of chain are you going to use....full comp round?

You can get too big and have idle problems. It's a lot of opening to do that though.

Ya no need for me to run anything over 24 on the 372 being I have the 064 and 390 but I like 28s for the reach
Guess I'll use my Techlite 20" 058 until Cannon comes out with their lightweights. Then I'll get a 24" for my 372....maybe a 28' light and put a 32" 404 063 on that 660. Your hybrid with a 28" light ES bar felt perfect. Maybe a 28" would be a better choice for a ported 372. I'm sure it'd pull it with authority. If I get a 28" then I have a lot of new 24" 063 chains I'd need to sale.
