Several people have messed me asking if this chassis was going to be covered. This saw came in after a recent overhaul locked up, I had it partially tore down before I realized it had ate the crank, so the breakdown is not complete. I will get some more pictures the next time one comes in.


Had it to this point before I knew that it had to come all the way apart.


Remove the circlip.


Piston off.

Brake flag held on with two bolts.


One on this side.


And there would be one here if the recoil was on.


Flag lifts off without having to disassemble the brake mechanism.


One small Phillips head screw.


And the bar pad plate comes off.

Remove the clutch and worm gear.


Oil pump held on with two screws.


Turn the adjuster screw all the way in.


Pump lifts out.


Pulling it out of the feed pipe can be tricky but it will come out.

Pickup line goes in the tank here.


It lifts out.


Remove the collar and washer.

Remove the mount screws.


And the flex limiter.

Unscrew the ground strap.


Pull the kill wire.


And the tank comes off.

Four screws.


And the Air Injection horn.


Carb floor off.


Two screws hold the coil on.

Four case screws here.


One hiding under the coil.


And one in the front.

Time to split.


Halfway there.


This tiny o ring goes on the PTO side of the crank, don't forget it on reassembly.


Apart.


Nice.

Going back together.


SKF bearings.


Case together.


New seals.


Flywheel side in.

Slide the O Ring on.

Seal in.


Collar on.


Drop in the oil line.


Slide the washer on and work the pump back in.

Put the screws back in.


Wind in the worm gear.


Clutch on.

Drop on the bearing and drum.


Rim, washer, and clip.

Drop the flywheel back on and seat it on the taper.


Tighten the nut.


Slide the tank back in.


Set the carb floor back in, pull the lines and throttle cable through, and run the screws in.
Put the Air Injection horn back in.

Install the ground strap.


Lay in the coil and set the air gap.


Air deflector on and wires routed.


Recoil reinstalled.

New piston.


Installed.


Lay the base gasket in place.


Drop the cylinder on and tighten the screws.

Route the lines.


Throttle cable goes like so.


Muffler and heat shield go like so.


Installed.

Top cover on.


Don't forget to snap the coil wire in.


Air filter on.


And the cover.

Brake flag back on.


And the front handle.


Don't forget to turn the oil pump back out.




And she is ready to kill trees.

Yes Sir, this saw was originally a XT but it was rebuilt as an OE. Kept the XT carb not so much for performance but as a cost saving measure.
