That about covers the subject! A lot of good stuff there. The one above is the one I was referring to regarding the bearing cap and the length of the bolts. Also forgot about that impulse passage tip.

Funny how I recognize everyone's bench now, too. LOL

Still more to come, I have some more of these to build and still linking videos. I want these threads to be the go to place to answer any questions about a given chassis.

My vids are most boring lol...

Yes....triple check length of head bolts

Bottom them and make sure the clearance is tighter than the thickness of the ears on the cylinder :)

Do you know what year?
6mm base bolt:
340 s/n 99 25 00501
345 s/n 99 25 00001

6mm base bolt and 2×cover plate:
345 s/n 00 06 01101

Bearing seat in the cylinder was widened:
340 s/n 01 42 03601
345 s/n 02 04 01501

Increased space in crankcase (allows the bearing rubber part to expand):
340 s/n 01 22 00961
345 s/n 01 22 03011
350 s/n 01 22 01261
On the same time the bearing & bearing holder was updated.

350 Bearing cap upgraded for the 45 mm:
350 s/n 03 01 03001

Not sure when the 350 bearing cup got 6 mm bolts
Figure it out, s/n 03 41 06001

Like I've said, never seen an m6 bolt hold a 350 cylinder head on.

they switched TO m6 (fine thread) to hold the bearing cap in place from coarse thread, but I've never seen an m6 head bolt.

I guess you understand that we're speaking about the base bolts Matt

gotcha

the 394 uses 1/4-20 ... JUST to screw with everyone. ugh. 272xp and 181/288 too.

:)

and yes, all these cylinder combos get nutty. I don't typeically work with the "high" kits, just the "low" cylinder kits with a seperate riser place

Since we are into them 350's, and no, I'm no fan of them, except OEM bearing holder (seal), what AM bearing holder (seal) do your guys buy?
On them 340/345's the whole profit is lost with OEM bearing holder......

i have run the am cross husky 350 seals. seems to be fine. I like to be able to choose my own bearings. the oem husky 350 seals seem to be already affixed to bearings, and are $30 each or so... so yes... needing 2 messes with your profits for SURE been there!

I think the 353 has the same as the 45mm 350 pesudo open port cylinder.
