Anyone have an opinions on which they prefer, Foam or K&N filters?

Anyone see that 2100 f/s in the trading post? The one for $650? I'm tempted to ask if he'll trade for my 394 but the 394 is going to be my mill rig and I don't want to use a 2100 for milling because of parts. Looks like a nice buy though.

Frank, your 298 has a magnesium rewind cover on it? And the wrap looks different than any I've seen on 2100. Nice collection.

Yes...as I'm sure the oem 298 recoil failed at some point.

The plastic ones didn't seem to last long. Most where converted to 2100 flywheels and starters but the 280/285/480 was the same size housing and had the two paw start system with magnesium cover.

Chain Saw Age magazine Feb 1977 , I will scan the 2100 relevant pages and post them.

Can't like that post enough!

On another note, does anyone know what causes the manual oiler to pull fuel? Must be a damaged tank?

Edit: got er dialed. There's a tube that the plunger for the oiler sits in, the tube is removeable. The tube is sealed to the fuel tank at the bottom with an o-ring. This o-ring was split. I replaced it and now that saw is perfect.

On a roll, I got four saws running and fixed up in the last 24hrs.

Justoldsaws, I'd love to see the rest of the article from that mag if you can!

Got after the 298 I posted pictures of earlier today. The piston is perfect, a b stamped thick ring. I opted to use one of my old cylinders on it that is scarred but runs well, it makes much less compression than a good one. It's an A marked cylinder, so I ran a golf piston in it and opted to save the b piston for a like new b cylinder I have. After a full days work and fixing a number of small problems the saw starts and runs very well. It's likely one of my lowest houred saws I'm thinking. I just need a fuel line, kill switch and brake handle(which is in my mail box).

Has anyone ever seen a 298 with a factory full wrap? It really looks like this one came that way. The wrap that was on it was toast, broken and bent. I had an nos one here that I put on it.
