There's an 038 Super AV very nearby. A bit smaller than the Mag and bone stock though.

havin had 3 good runnin supers b4 the m I have now, can say the s is almost as good as the m, unless yer racin, countin 1oths.

038 s & m [never had 1st version] are 2 of my fav saws, just behind 288.

I didn't mean to start a pizzen match by mentioning the 038 mag .It would stand to reason however you should be able to get a tad more from a 372 Husky simply because of the transfer port design .Then again with either saw it just depends on how much enhancement you want to do to them .Simple as that.

A 281 with a blank for a decomp valve is pretty rare
I wonder if it’s a Mahle thing. I have one that came on that salvage 281 that I picked up in the spring. Joe cleaned the transfer out of this cylinder for me with acid. I’ll be running this one on my 281 build.

@MattG - These guys might be able to help with the 54mm piston specs..
(Thanks Adam)

So, yeah. I'm looking for the spec of a OEM piston which will fit the bill for a future project.

The problem with piston that comes with the hyway kit is that the piston is short (in order to clear cases). I'm after a suitable 54mm piston with 12mm wrist pin OD with longer skirt, since I'm happy to clearance at the cases themselves, and having the long skirt gives me more options re. porting.

I did consider the stihl 066 piston but it having 0.060" ( ~1.55mm ) too high pin to crown measurement, kinda makes that a little tricky. If you take a quick look at this post: #34 you'll see what I mean.

So I'm wondering if there's a suitable Husky piston I should maybe look at for this project. Any of you guys know of such a piston?

i.e. 54mm bore / 12mm pin / about 15.3mm (0.609") pin to crown

You guys are killin me...lol! That’s some funny chit. If I can get off the couch today (back injury) I’ll shoot you some measurements of a meteor and a Hyway 54mm piston. The only OEM 54 I have is in my 288.

Have you been lugging round a Stihl boat anchor to get that injury?
