Husqvarna 181/281/288 Repair Thread.

Thers my box of 181.
Was hoping to work on it this winter. We will see. I used up most my savings on building my shed. And its still not quite done.


I need to find a coil for it and it should run.
Plus a bunch of little things too. Av mounts power switch. Half wrap handle is bent.

The old cylinder was in pretty rough shape and since we were going this far he elected for a new top end.

New fuel line in.


Slide the tank into place.


Run the screws back in, don't forget the chain catcher. Now is also a good time to install the chain guide and bar pad plate.

Thanks SS ..... and for anyone interested, the similar tool for the smaller buffers is 502 51 00-02.
(User note: The steel is too soft IMHO and I'm going to try to develop a better alternative)

Cleaned and ready for the new kit.

Intake track assembled.


And on, this is where I left off for the day.


I had to order a few more smalls for it and I am off all next week to host Thanksgiving. I will pick back up on this saw the following week. Couldn't resist throwing on the recoil and top cover to get an idea of how it is going to look.

I inspected it carefully and it was in excellent shape, saw will be pressure tested before it is ran.
