I would attribute that to the Autotune. I bet it would be closer if you leaned out the 372 a bit. Sounded rich in video.
2 ports vs 4 ports ???

It was tuned properly. Limited coil on both. The stock 572 beats a stock 372XT on paper, in cookie cuts and real world out in the woods. Period.

With just a mild mm with screens intact it was right with a fully ported 441... and that’s no disrespect to the builder. The 572 is just a solid runner.

Is 372 a 2 port saw? And 572 a 4 port saw?
From the video, the 372 sounded a bit rich.
Maybe different in person.

Not rich. The 372 XT has a lower max no load rpm than the older OE 372 because of the heavier piston and lower rpm limited coil (13,300). I find a XT has a little more grunt than a OE. Both 572/372 (XT) have strato and two ports. 572 has autotune, crankstuffers and a 3mm longer stroke among other differences.

Cotontop3 did the same comparison stock vs stock with a OE 372 and got the same results.

Ahhh. Ok. TY
I had the 372XT tuned better than most average loggers or tree guys would. A dirty worn out tree guy 372 tuned too rich or way lean on crappy fuel or other real world variables would be even slower. 572 being auto tune is always tuned right no matter what. That said the autotune does add complexity. It’s worth it though on a work saw imo.

Good poast.

That's why I chuckle at the banter sometimes, The variables in what you guys try to figure out are exactly what doesn't make one saw faster or what people perceive as better than the other.

You can kill anything if you try.

Lol that sounds like something I would say. Auto tune and efi are the way of the future. That broken in 572 is no joke.

Thanks Mike!
The OE (old edition from about 1999-2009) is a 4 port non-strato saw. XT (x-torq from roughly 2010 ish to present time) in my video is a 2 port strato saw like the 572. I know it’s confusing lol. Hope this clarifies things.

4 ports usually has better flow. More even.
But thanks for the Hooskie education.

Why does a two port 572 kick the a$$ of the 372 with 4 ports then all things being equal and stock? Same displacement. Just something to think about... there’s more than just the amount of ports in a saw that makes it run good.
