A few buddies had them on the 7910’s they still had to grease them to make sure fines wouldn’t get past. This is more of a dust then a small chip it stains everything and will get into every little spot it can.

The seal is large and made of rubber, and seals even better than the seal on the 572, fines can't get through! grease will do nothing. When you try to take the filter off it's often a bit stuck to the rubber seal. I have seen dust get past most filters, the HD 7900 filter is the exception. Guys in Australia having running them for years in red gum and the like without anything getting in whatsoever. Sorry but I must call BS on this one as you personally have no experience with the setup, and are going by what your Buddies have said. The whole grease statemen set off the alarm bells. I have to call it as I see it.[emoji111]

The early top spring was a little weak, as was the aluminum mounting band that wrapped around the handle, it would stretch over time and get loose. This would contribute to the spring being over torqued. Dolmar upgrade to a steel band, added a limiter and a slightly larger diameter spring.[emoji111]

Like the Aussie hardwoods
Dusty and Red!

I bloody don't the chit gets in to everything and it's a *b-word to cough up it feels like you are coughing up your toenails.

Ps the only filters I have seen stop this stuff is the new black stihl ones , I have not tried the white ones yet as I have 9 of the black ones .

Couple things the 572xp does better than the 462... AV is smoother, oiler outputs a little more, balances a longer bar better, better chip clearance, better filter seal/setup, I like the chain adjuster setup better, better fuel mileage, a bit more forgiving powerband, stronger cases/bottom end and it’s about 200$ cheaper. Things the 462 does better than the 572xp... better throttle response, more nimble limbing, lighter powerhead weight, well matched to shorter bars, carb box layout is a little more simplified, captive nuts are nicer than the husky’s. There’s a couple more things that I’d list I’m forgetting I’m sure, but that’s most of it. The major thing both of them need to stop cheaping out on is the pathetic stock spikes and a fixed metal catcher (hate those). Dual dogs and a roller standard would be nice on saws of this caliber.
You forgot the flippys are better on the husky :D.
I like the primer bulb myself.

I don’t think I’ve ever used the primer on the 572 if there’s fuel in it. Most of the time I don’t use the decomp either. Compression isn’t super high. Always cold starts and hot restarts easily. I will add that it is easier to start than the 462.

That's great. One thing I like about them other than getting the fuel to the carb quick is that they tell the condition of the fuel system, when they look bad it's time to change everything out.

Two drilled holes later and that’s much better than having just one dog felling trees or bumping knots/crotches on the landing! Finally got this thing setup the way I think it should have come out of box... two dogs and a roller catch. For what I’m doing the two smaller dogs are adequate here in the east but out west in thicker bark I’d definitely upgrade to the large spikes. 270A6AB7-645A-44B6-97D2-434B3D1DFBD8.jpegD23FC304-D2F4-4315-B471-98F600D238DF.jpegC9D88F8D-AF1F-44D5-A41A-31FBD5E120EF.jpeg 1D99DD75-F00F-4C87-8215-C371327D5973.jpeg

And no I didn’t weigh the ounces difference after installing the outer dog because I don’t give a *s-word for a lack of a better word lol. The gain in use ability mattered more to me.

FYI anyone wondering how to drill the holes, just pick the size drill bit that fits into the little impression on the inside of the cover. I wish they were drilled already, but it was easy to do. Pretty self explanatory.
