Is the WJ115 a stock upgrade or do you need mods for it to run well? Learning dot dot dot
Standard equipment on newer 395’s. I’m still learning too lol. Carbs are fascinating to me how one can run differently than the other on the same saw and why.

Here’s a question I was talking with @Daserlon about not long ago: what’s the difference between a WJ39 and a WJ71? Too my knowledge the biggest difference is that the 71 is equipped with EPA limiters on the jets. Is one of them considered the better carb performance wise? @srcarr52 @rattler

BTW...good thread @dustinwilt68 , long overdue discussion on these power houses:)

The WJ-70 is the 394 EPA carb with limiters. I think the WJ-71 was originally for a drone plane but has the same linkage as the WJ-39 so it's a direct fit on a 394.

For 395's I like the HS-300A Tillotson the best, followed by the HS-298A, the Walbro WJ-115 doesn't seem to be as nice as those two.

I wish the tilly’s weren’t so pricey to buy new and easier to find in good used condition. Everyone hoards them. Lol

That is the same that I heard 39 being the early carb

That is one of Brad Snelling's photos.
I think your right, real nice looking saw... like brand new. Just did a quick internet search to find one with the old style sticker.
