You have to swap the entire cylinder and intake tract to the newer 95 style

You can keep the 394 carb and add an external impulse barb too it. So only the cylinder and the intake boot, intake boot clamp, intake carb backer, intake ring, partition wall and M4 carb bolts with spacers are needed.

Does anyone know if the carb plate on 395 w Barb will fit directly on to the 394 carb?
Yes, rwj top plate will work too. That’s how I put a wj71 on a 385/390. Even drilled the bolt holes to fit the red isolator inserts. However I ran into interference issues trying to put a wj71 on a 395. The throttle arm hits the throttle cable holder. Maybe @srcarr52 can comment on this. I think he has experience with this.

The WJ-71 is a direct fit in a 394. The throttle rod is shorter on the 395 carbs. So when the 394 style carb is used with the intake clamp throttle cable bracket the cable is bound up because of the angle.

I ended up shortening the throttle rod on one, but I also had to counter bore the carb body to make room for the return spring to get it to work.

I know the RWJ or W118 (later 395 carb) impulse plate will fit on the WJ-69/70/71 since they are all the same size pump gaskets, I'm not sure if the Tillotson HS-296/298/300 (original 395 carb) will fit on the Walbro.

One weakness with the case I’ve seen before is that when idiots refuse to buy a new chain catcher... the pto side takes a beating. Not necessarily the saws fault, but I’d like to see a bolt on metal protection plate like some of the dolmar/makitas have on the 395 replacement. I do like the front “skid plate” on the west coast kit for these saws.

I'll play. This was only my second husky, so I'm still getting used to outboard clutches and auto loosening fasteners, but it's a sweet saw. Love how smooth it is and the air filter compared to my 660. Anyone got a tank they'd part with? Mine came with a hole in it from the AV limiter. rps20180725_225403_746.jpg

Yeah if someone uses the wrong screw that’s too long or something it’ll eff up the tank. In the top two av limiters it’s a pin type screw machined smooth. Bottom two limiters it’s a 5x16 m5 cap screw. The pins are too long to be used on the bottom and the machine screws will damage the tank limiter pocket used on the top.
