Well I tried it. I didn't get to test it against one of my round ground chain's, but it cuts good and it cuts straight. I tested it in some dead dry oak.

Here is a couple chains from a couple saws I purchased.
First two pics are from the 372xp..was extremely grabby, and bogged down the saw pretty bad. both grinds were exactly the same between 372 and the 390 when I received them.

After playing in the wood pile for a little while, I spent some time adjusting the 390xp chain...should have taken time to clean out the gullets, but it was getting late in the day. Here are the pics, after a tank of fuel. Huge difference...great chips, great chain speed...much faster cut!
