Last century they were 80 some miles north of St Louis. on the way ho-made sign"Radar trap 3 miles" at least 2 sheets plywood size. Checked speedo thru there saw nothing. Coming back similar sign and an illiterate driver pulled over on other side LOL. There were a few more planes then; biplane or two & a couple craft in between IIRC
With Forbes Field being a sleepy airport we get a visit every other year it seems.

So you are telling me bio-free diesel is everywhere in your area. Exact opposite around here.

You have all them oil refineries down their I'm surprised the let that bio-D fly.

Always a massive, classic barn.

Most of the real beauties are the other side of the Mississippi and north of the Mason/Dixon line.
This one is a few miles from where I lived as a kid in North Mo. When I drove by it last year, it was deteriorating pretty fast. The present owners are doing nothing to preserve it.

There used to be a round barn near Joplin, just outside Saginaw. Owners just let it go till it collapsed a few years ago.

Agreed.
People have no grasp of the value of those big, old barns. Some are garbage builds, but some are marvels. It would cost a man $100,000 to duplicate even a mid sized one today.
Maintenance wood be so much less! Anyone have pics of inside of one of these to see the design used? Peeps driving by see what I have sitting out front of the tree/property line. What ever I construct out there may draw interest. A round tool shed or bus stop shelter dam that hurts- you've got me thinking and that's rarely good this early in the day

There's also one up there that my Dad and I roofed one summer that was solid walnut from the beams and posts to the siding. It had a matching corn crib beside it. I've always wanted to go back to see if it's still there.
We were hired to tear down an old mortise and tenon barn once. Tried to pull down the framework with a couple of tractors and it wouldn't budge. We had to use Dad's old XL-12 to cut it apart.

Friend of mine from the Dominican Republic, now living and pastoring a church in Chicago. Started his first church at the age of 13 and left for Costa Rica at the age of 15 to be a missionary to tribes in the jungle.

Would be hard to find enough tradesmen and craftsmen to build a barn like that in this day and age.
That is the sad truth! There r plenty of college educated ppl that have absolutely no skill or any trade that could be used for something like that.
