Hey guys. My local has an old homie I might buy on Monday. It looks like an xl-925 maybe. It has the decal in the same spot, but it's worn off almost completely and unreadable. What other saws look similar that are around that size? Any thoughts on what I should pay? It's one of those.... It might even start! Saws:).

I know the rear handle half that bolts on is cracked. I was thinking even for a mill saw it might be worth the chance.

I'm thinking of offering 25 bucks. What's a runner 925 worth?

They are fairly desirable. I think a nice one would easily be $200+

Similar saws would be 921, 922, 923, 924, 924W. The first two are 77cc, the rest 82cc. I don't see any difference in cutting speed. The 923 and 924 have decomps. The rest don't.
I hear some 925's are 77cc. 2" bore vs 2-1/16" bore

Friday is noodles night.

The bin of firestarter was getting low. That, and I am always looking for a reason to fire up a Homelite after work. These little numbers really pull well once you get the carburetors dialed in. The HDC's are temperamental if they are even a tad rich on the L side it seems. They pull like they belong in the next weight class when all is right, though. No frills or gimmicks on these Canadian Terry issues. No decomp or manual oiler. You can see the boss for the decomp in the cylinder. View attachment 14001

Just picked this one up this weekend. Very clean and a good runner. I was looking for a bow bar. He said he had one from a Super XL. I asked if he had the clutch cover. He said he had the whole saw. He priced it at a deal I could not refuse..IMG_20160306_173534282.jpg

I have heard that the 290 and 340? where built by some one else. I don't know much about the later homelites. Good looking saw!

maybe 923 or 925? Not sure what the differences are. I had a 925 it was decent.

340.jpg 340 I had. Didn't care for the throttle and choke setup. Had to remove the whole cylinder to replace intake bolts.

I don't think I've seen that muffler shield except on a 925. It's all red so it's a later model. Apparently the shield also came on 921 and 924 saws but I've never seen either of those saws.
That broken rear handle piece is available on e-bay. Nice score if you have it.
