The blue ones where 1964-1973ish. Serial should be under the kill switch. On metal tag. The decals say after 1968 from my studies. Seven digit serial is the early ones then switched to the eight digit. The eight digit are able to be decoded for build date. Very nice one!

Today's arrival: My first Homelite, a Super XL Automatic, Model AO in rather good condition, even the decals seem
well preserved including the original "Replace chain with OREGON brand chains" sticker.
Needs some cleaning and probably new diaphragms but that's something for coming long summer evenings:

When were these saws built? Around 1970 or so?
Just noticed it does not have manual Oiler option. Most have had the manual kit added , that one is as super clean original one.

I’ve got this sweet little 360. The intake boot rotted out. I have one in my shop for it. I put it away so I wouldn’t loose it and I can’t find it anywhere. A89BF997-A7F8-4539-B36B-89609CF4D17A.jpeg47E851AA-8D77-4B86-9002-A80873F1D798.jpegA38B925E-2970-4462-AE4A-0DE1E340B657.jpeg

Speaking of 360's, a guy brought this one to me last year after finding it in a barn on some property he just bought. Asked me to see if I could get it running. I'd heard about the boot issues and crossed my fingers. Put some fuel in it and it fired right up. Runs and oils great. Haven't seen the guy since. He also found a NIB Stihl 036 Pro in the same barn. Took that one with him!

So are the intake boots similar between the 360 and 330? I hear they are a pain to replace. Have a pair of super nice 330's I hope to go through one day. Been putting them off because of the horror stories about working on em being such a pain in the ass. Really haven't gotten into any of my Homies to any degree for the same reason. Guess I need to watch more Leon videos.

The 360 is easier that the 330, both are not bad, way better than a stihl 192t! Of all the boots I think the 410 is the easiest. The 360 is a better made saw than the 330, not that the 330 is any slouch. They are both very under appreciated saws.

All be dammed if I didn’t find my boot today after a thorough search. I put it in and it wasn’t that bad. Might as well change the impulse line while you’re in there.
