I have a SEZ here with 140 psi, hot spark (I reset it) and it won’t run but on a fast idle. Low speed is turned out one turn. High can be turned shut and it still runs. Out 1 or 2 turns and it will stall when you open the throttle.

Carb is a Walbro HDC with an ‘accelerator circuit’ per my Clymer repair book.

Since it is obviously sucking fuel from the ‘accelerator circuit’ can I just block it off at the carb face?

I just replaced the carb with one doing the exact same thing.

And, don’t give me chit about crank seals because they don’t make an engine run stinking rich. [emoji57]

We even had the reeds out for inspection. They are fine.

Needle valve lever set correctly, too high will let too much fuel in, too low and not enough.

I think it’s sucking fuel thru passage ‘P’.

I had a 901 Homelite doing the same thing a year ago. A NOS carb failed to change anything, but a new condenser made it run the way it was meant to. Go figure.
But maybe you have one without points, so then I’m out of guesses.

Carl, Some of the Super 925's and a few others of that time the high was
screwed all the way in. Not sure if your carb is set up that way as well.

Go back thru the ignition we will.
[emoji848]

Blocking off the ‘accelerator pump’ circuit with .003” shim stock did nothing.

And, yes I read somewhere it’s a semi fixed high side jet that one can enrichen.

No rubber bladder involved.

You are thinking about the SDC that came on XL-101 types.

Ignition look see:

Points are very oily.

Condenser lead is some loose in the body of it.

Runs and cuts good. [emoji106]

It was mostly the oil soaked points.

And, the semi fixed HS jet. Set that only 1/4 turn from seated.

Random ignition made engine smoke and blubber like it was rich.

Opening the throttle increased cylinder pressure where the plug lost fire due to weak spark. [emoji37]

And, we left the ‘accelerator pump’ passage blocked off. It is not really needed and adds a potential for malfunction.[emoji848]

Plus we are lazy.[emoji6]
