These types of hobbies need young folks like you two to keep the hobbies going.
Us antiques won't be around forever as much as we want to. Need to get the kids
off the computer games and play outside and get dirty. Learn things and get interested
in some of this stuff we have a passion for.
I built my first big block chevy with Dad when I was 6. Ever since then I was hooked onto engines, trucks, trains, and chainsaws. Also been quite alone in my hobby, but oh well...would rather be out in the shop than sitting in front of a tv playing stupid games that get you nowhere in life. Can't seem to get really anyone my age to understand that. Least there's a couple though.

Made some decent progress since the last update....order a bunch of nos parts from Leon's chainsaw parts & repair including rings, crank seals, & gaskets. Happy to have a freshly sealed bottom end. This thing is gonna have some decent compression to. Cylinder honed out really nice. 001.JPG 002.JPG 003.JPG 004.JPG

Thanks Frank! Got more done tonight....Should have it running tomorrow if all goes smoothly. :D
Really good turnaround time!! Have a 797 I’m wanting to restore....need to start tearing into it, and get started! Did find a few parts I need for it...a few more to locate. I may start a build thread on it.

If you do a search on AS you might find a few of my build threads.
I have restored quite a few 797's. Fun saws to do.

Just a suggestion, but when you get it completely together, send some photos to Mike Acres. As he doesn't have pictures of this model with his spec info.

Good luck with that. I know a couple guys that tried to get him to add pic's of
certain models he had wrong or no pic's. It was an act of congress to get him
to do it.

I've heard that about trying to get bar mount info corrected.

016.JPG 017.JPG 018.JPG Well she is a fuel filter, starter rope(this one is too short), and new spark plug away from running. Did do the unthinkable and shoot some starting fluid in there to here it pop....first time this saw has breathed life in 25 years. Fair amount left to do, but not far away from running on her own fuel. Also need to get the oiler working....I think one of the holes is plugged. Nice to see it looking like a saw again.

She lives!!! Holds a tune nicely as well. Needle seems to be bypassing just a tad, but it holds an idle no problem. Will have some footage soon. Brake and shifter work as well. Excited to get a bar on this thing...just gonna have to convince myself to cut with it. haha Just have to put the a/f and cover on and also the spike. Starter cover needs some dents hammered out and one of the clips replaced. 003.JPG 004.JPG
