I've thought about that very thing just for being able to have access for dust collection. The downside is theres not really a money savings and harder to heat and insulate.
Do as your are planning. Deck over the floor later.

I'm planning on stripping the floor with 2x4's and insulating with foam board in between. Then 3/4" plywood for the flooring.

Looking good Mike. Why the wood floor?

I wanted a wood floor for a few reasons.

• Help keep moisture down (wood tools and moisture don't get along)

• Easier to stand on

• Help with heating

• Droped woodworking tools

• to hide wiring for tablesaw and work benches under it.

Nice looking setup. Are you running dust collector under the floor too? Had that at my old shop. Was a great feature. What kind of woodworking are you into? Any need for a industrial shaper in that setup? I have two that I'm looking to sell.

Unfortunately I can't run the dust collection under floor. It's just going to be a hobby shop, I most build stuff for friends and family.

Yeah, I could be interested in a shaper. What you got?
