Help me out Stihl Bros. MS310

Got this MS310 given to me by a coworker. Best I can figure is this saw is the equivalent of a Husqvarna 460 Rancher. Is that a fair assessment? It has a brand new P&C on it and the PO said it still wouldn't run right, thinking crank seals. I haven't even removed covers to see how it's constructed, I assume it's a clam shell being in the home owner line. Anyway I'm curious if this saw is or is not worth the effort to get it running. Don't need it but hell, it was free.

Lol! Yeah the bench is a mess right now, I have a 13 year old that has about 10 things going on in there. None of which I understand, lol.
Anyway a serious question. Is this saw the older version of an MS390?

It's a clam, 390 block fits I believe

the 310 is a 47 mm and the 390 is a 49 mm i have a 290 with opened muffler and a 044 carb and runs good and also a stock 310 they are good runners for a homeowner saw

yes a 390 cylinder will swap over onto the 290 and the 310

no problems but here is a picture of what it looks like
a 3/4 or larger hole drilled into the square indentation helps it ALOT.

Yeah it definately needs a heathy muffler mod
