Ok, on the long bench I have 4ft from the tool box to the corner, that is going to be chain sharpening area. the grinder will go just off the wall by the door. I'll hang some pegs for sharp/dull.

I plan on adding a bench vice over the leg on the far side of the tool box.

Thinking of a adjustable mount for the chain vice next to the grinder.

How you guys have the "chain" area set up?

How much room do a breaker spinner take? really think I should invest in one as well.

Joe, I like a small shelf, made out of 1x6, about 8" above the bench. Nice place to stack goodies (jugs, pistons, carbs, screws, etc.) that really keeps your bench top cleaner.

I also got the new harbor freight sale catalog in today's mail. These bins stack nicely and are great for organizing smalls like screws, bar nuts, rings, etc.

The power strip also looks nice - need lots of plugs for your drill battery charger, stereo, soldering iron, heat gun, work light, etc.

Looks like I gotta make another shopping trip :)

I was thinking about the bench shelf idea today, not sure if I want to do it in sections, or the entire bench length.

Make sure you leave room for a lathe, air compressor, bead blaster, parts washer...

This is attached to a 20×40 I do all the machine work across the field. The shop is all set up with 480 3 phase and all the machine goodies already.

I still have to finish painting, and put up the rest of my lights, that is just the 1 fixture. I have 4 more to add if needed.

I might try for some type of dust collection system on the ceiling with drop spouts.

Still have to plumb the air, probably be on the ceiling too.

Make sure you add a lip to the front of your shelf, or the next time you're sledgehammering on one of your Echos all your parts will bounce off the shelf and onto the floor

How much room do a breaker spinner take? really think I should invest in one as well.

I dont have the room right now to mount my breaker/spinner permanently but when I use them I just mount them in the vise and it works very well.

When I get into my new shop I plan on hard mounting both to a plate I can throw in the vise when needed. I dont see the need to take up room on the bench.

That is a good idea. I do have another bench just outside the door that could be used for a breaker spinner setup. or the plate in the vice would work well, especially if ya ever needed to use it off site.

I don't have a breaker or spinner yet. My grinder is mounted on a 2x6. I lock it in the vise also to save room. I need to drill a hole in the 2x6 so I can hang it up when I'm done, instead of it taking up said room on the bench next to the vise

I guess I don't really need the grinder in the same room, I do already have it set up.. chain grinding is pretty dirty...

Hmm, that means I can do all the porting on the short section close to the door...

I'll just set up a spot to try and file fast chains... instead of the grinder.

Yeah. Grinding chain creates much more "dust" than grinding aluminum. I can port 3 cylinders and my mustache doesn't taste like aluminum, unlike grinding chain

Ain't super purdy. But it shold work.

Made 1 small cabinet on the right wall too. That will be used for tools/misc stuffs.

Pretty much all I'm gonna get done this go round. Back off to work next week. Probably be February before I can finish it up. So close yet so far...

I really plan on doing something like this under my work bench if I ever got back to working on my new shop.

My saw stuff is mostly in plastic totes or cardboard boxes....

I really like those a lot. Something like that would be perfect for the empty space under the bench still.

I plan on leaving 3 clear spots under the bench. One for each station, so i can sit under the bench to keep the work close.

That must make me full midget sized......you just tower over me. LOL

Wouldn't say Tower over you, unless you were wearing the extra tall boots :)

Nice, I like the red and green theme :)

I will keep my eyes open, but don't have a lot of space left to fill.
