I bought a bunch of new and used parts off a gentleman 9+ months ago. The picture was kinda crappy but there were a few things in the lot that I needed for projects. I was busy with other things and getting ready to move so when the box showed up, I opened it, confirmed there were parts in the box and taped it shut again.
Just got back to opening it and unpacking all the stuff in it. Lotsa misc nos parts but what jumped out at me was an 044 slant fin cylinder. Used but barely based on the looks. How do I know what I have. Here are the only markings I could find on it. Top says “1128” and side says “V”and “43”? 10mm or 12mm?

Took a toothbrush and cleaned all the crud off then blew it off with the air hose. Pretty clean now but no more markings found.

I think the cylinder doesn't matter.
10 vs 12 is the piston pin.
Looks like a score lots of guys like those jugs.

what is stamped on the side? How many + signs are on the side? It should say Mahle along the base unless it’s a KS

Nothing on the base and no +s anywhere; that’s what’s throwing me off.

It could be aftermarket, they do make aftermarket slant fin cylinders. Aftermarket tends to have that darker color too

I agree with Al- that looks like aftermarket. Even if it weren't aftermarket, that wear in the plating around the intake port likely indicates that it's junk anyway.

Bummer, I was all excited about using it (like I need another project) but I guess it’ll go into the back shelf pile. Thanks for the help!

The base markings on the third one are different also; as in none. No “Mahle” or numbers

Look on the top there is the KS marking on the third that looks like a $
Does the OP have a Marking on the top?
I haven’t ever seen an oem cylinder that’s not marked stihl, Mahle or KS

The one on the right is a KS 10mm jug, and an early one since it only had one + mark next to the KS logo... the slant fin cylinders marked with only the STIHL logo came on much later 440 saws.

Funny that some 440s came with no decomp.

No fakes. The one in the center is considerably smaller. The exhaust is very noticeable in size difference, the intake almost as... then the thickness of the cylinder wall itself is also noticeable.
