Not alot actually Jeremy. My 461 tuned to about 14600 cutting 20" firewood would completely cover the piston crown on 800t in probably 5 tanks. If I back the tune down to about 13500 it would probably keep a clean piston in 20" wood
See.....I personally don’t tune that high.
No need.
13.8 is just fine with me

Depends on the size wood your cutting also. 13800 is alota wasted speed and efficiency unless youre cutting big wood

I dont gauge all saws to say 13800 is being ok. Each saw will have its liking and 4 stroke limit after porting and thats where I tune to. If my 461 still 4 strokes at 15000 I see no need to tune it to 13800 and lose cutting efficiency:)

Tuning fat is the only way saws survive when a tree service uses them I noticed. A 346 I sold them I purposely tuned fat.. it’s lived fine for about a year. Few other saws they have I’ve worked on I sent back with tunes on rich side. Pretty much all tree service don’t tune there saws. No time to waste. There chains might not always be razor sharp either. They also run 50:1

Oh ya. I dont like a sluggish saw tuned rich when I know it can run better when its tuned correctly. Just the way I see it brother. The sooner Im done cutting the quicker I can get back to seeing my lil girl before shes grown up:)

13.8k last I checked. Probably 13.5 ish on a hot summer day. Burbles when self feeding light. Still running limited coil. It gets the piss ran out of it almost daily. Tune probably nears 14.2 in the winter. Still safe. Logger/tree service saws...keep em fat imo.

Ya with a stock saw. My ported 346 with a 16" bar buried at 13500 and leaning on it would be a blubbering mess

Thoso guys in my area that I repair equipment for know how to use their equipment and make money. They could care less about tune, oil, specs, ported saws, or any of this we talk about. They care that it cranks, does the job , and makes money
