Has the 661 been proven like the 066/660?

Yes it is. Real good price. Even for the extra green filter separately. [emoji106]

I did an order for 2 x 661 max flows and a MMWS cross 660 top end that was half price on my phone and noticed afterwards that I messed it up and ordered 1 of the max flows and 2 of the 660 top ends.

Oh well

Na its all good.
I got the 661 max flow for a friend's saw and was getting one for myself for when I get a 661 one day but am happy with 2 of the MMWS kits for half price to be honest

I have one for a 460, bought it on eBay last winter new in packaging for $40 shipped, butt I ain't got around to using it yet.

I might put it into use on my 460 here soon.
Here's a 46 with some use on it.

Everywhere I go I search for wood that would justify owning a 661, unfortunately unless I can convince a city tree guy to haul some wood to my yard nothing around here would require a 90cc saw. I still will likely own one...

I guess that's why my wife tells me that I have problems distinguishing between wants and needs -- I have 80 or so saws, most 6+ cubes, but I don't heat with wood and the biggest "tree" on my property is maybe 4" in diameter....

Will be moving back to the states, soon, however, and looking to buy some property that would be suitable for someone with my saw collection. My wife said I'm backackwards with my logic, but what does she know?

Having read this entire thread did nothing to sway me in the direction of buying any sort of electronic saw. I'm not anti technology but I have more than enough carbureted saws to last me the rest of my life. I'm the only one that works on my stuff. When I buy a new car and they offer free oil changes I just tell them, "thanks, but I won't be back". So I'm not going to buy a chainsaw that I have to take to a dealer that probably doesn't understand it much better than I do. I'll just stick to my obsolete carb saws. They cut what I need to cut.

I'm a bit skeptical, I doubt you have run a M Tronic saw very much. It is all too easy to have fear of the unknown. I've run stock 395s and 661s at GTGs, and in stock form I think the 661 will eat the 395s lunch, plus they are lighter.

I know that 395s port well, but a ported 661 (by TM or MMWS) is a very respectable saw. If you have ever seen or run one at a GTG, it will leave an impression.

Furthermore, a 661 will get about 20% better fuel consumption than a 660.

I also have 2 ported M Tronic saws, and they both run just great (a 261 and a 362).

If I had to use a saw that size on a regular basis, the 661 would be my choice, hands down.

I was very skeptical about Mtronic saws too. But as of late, I have seen some screamers. Tree Monkey, MMWS, John Redfin, all build super strong versions of this saw. (Sorry if I forgot any porters here). You cant argue that.
Julian puts up some awesome videos of this saws capabilities.
No doubt, Mtronic and Fuel Injection are the way of the future. Get on the train, or get left behind.
I am probably the biggest skeptic. LOL
Kevin (moparmy) has a real strong 661 that was run at Dan's house. Very smooth, clean running saw for sure.

The cs2260 I have, while not a stihl is a damn good performer. I doubt many other 60cc saws come close, sans a Dolmar 6100. Don't be afraid of the mtronic and auto tune units, they perform admirably and I haven't had any issues with mine that weren't self induced.

That did it. A logger just sold me a stock MS661 for $800 and threw in four 30" Stihl bars that I can easily recondition. I sold two of the bars for $60, so my net is about $740. This saw starts and runs flawlessly. I have no complaints except that my 660 and 064 are both jealous and fearful that they will be left out.

Hard to believe that this saw has a year of work on it -- maybe 300 hours. I did very little restoration work on it. Here are a couple of Pics to prove that I landed this big fish:
Stihl MS 661-01.JPG
Stihl MS 661-02.JPG So now I am entrenched in the M-tronic world. The seller said he needed some temporary cash for repairs on his other equipment -- skidder, picker truck, etc. No bargaining was involved.
