I'm playing with the idea of getting a 56mm kit with a pop up and maybe my google fu is low but I'm not finding anyone that has mentioned it.

I think it is easier to get a ported standard bore cylinder to run stronger. Most of the BB stuff has issues. (freeporting, limited transfer size, etc).

So, I ordered a HYWAY 54mm pop up. Does anyone know if the retaining clips are any good in HYWAY kit?

Thread killa.

I like to experiment however this has became my go to saw over my pro mac. The only issue I had was oiling and It was when I was running the dog *s-word out of it with a carbide chain. Cutting stumps after I pulled it out with excavator.

I had a HyWay BB kit on my chineese 660. Good power but drank fuel like crazy. Switched to a MMWS cylinder with a popup piston. Better torque than the BB and uses less fuel.

Lots of saws can be made to run well. The amount of time you are willing to put into it to get it to that point is the crutch.

If ya wanna dork around get another builder you do not have to rely upon for work.

Hyway makes good parts. Can't speak for all their parts but the stuff I've ordered was of good quality and held up just fine. Others have told me they make their parts in house. If I was going to buy AM top ends its either Hyway or Meteor.

Hyway 54mm pop up works well in the FT cylinders if you have a good cylinder, the complete hyway 54mm popup top end even better. I have one with a logger now for more than a year and no issues. Strong saw.
