couple of 36" bars on the 661R Arctic....

36" Stihl Light Bar (new design). I put a new tip (which come black instead of white)...thought it might look cool. Stihl bar actually weighs 7oz less than the tsumura but it doesn't balance as nice. Maybe because of how the cut outs are on the tsumura I dunno.

I've been wanting a 36" es light but I already have a few 36" bars so I've somehow put off buying one, now that deets handed me his and I felt how light it was and now that I have seen the new design I can't resist any longer.

Thanks deets and julian. Enablers!

I think that the key thing is not necessarily weight, but balance on a particular saw. At a dealer, I was able to lift and handle a few identical saws with standard and lightweight bars, side-by-side, and could really feel the difference. If all that you are doing is bucking, a nose heavy saw might not be that bad. But if you have to hold it up . . . .

^^^ This has been needed for a long time.
Your dead right! They will sell a bunch of 20" lights, I have been wanting one for years. The Tsumura/Sugi cut out design is better for longer bars to get a good wieght advantage, the stihl design is light in all sizes. They have been silly taking so long to bring this bar to market.

stihl 2 lb 0 oz
tsumura 2lb 3.0 oz
sugi 2lb 2.5 oz

different of 2.5-3.0 oz or a difference of .07 kilos

IMO both sugi and tsumura bars run smoother, faster, and cooler than stihl. The sprocket noses are of higher quality as well.

Downside is you can only get Sugi in .050 and you can only get tsumura in .063. Well no, that's not true. That F150? guy is selling Total Lights (made by tsumura) in .050.

Plus sugi and tsumura are cheaper. And you can do tsumura in .063 .404 baby! :headbang: Well you could also get a stihl light in .063 and change tip to .404 sprocket.

Still the Stihl is lighter. But that doesn't always mean it's handles better. For example the 36" Stihl Light Bar is 7oz lighter than the tsumura 36". But it seems that the tsumura balances just a touch nicer. Why? I can only think it has something to do with where the weight is taken out of the bar.

I have Tsumuras that have many hours and they are my favoirite, but I do like the extra long mounting hole (<ha that sounds wrong) that the Sugi's have. But my Sugi's are 050 & I don't buy 050 chain anymore just 063 3/8 & .404. I bought spare .404 & 3/8 tips a few years ago and have not replaced a nose from failure yet, but I have worn out stihl bars too without nose sprocket failure. I do like the stihl lights in top handle saws, they make a really noticable difference.

The E light picco bars weigh next to nothing

I have 10" 3/8 043 light on my ms150 and makita dcs231t, they make a massive difference, I wish stihl made the 10" light bar in 050!! It annoys me some of stihls rules. The 1/4 inch is probably the best chain for 25cc class for smoothness alone but I don't like the shape of the 1/4" bars and the price of the chain....much prefer the shape of the 3/8 picco lights. I have Tsumura 12" bars for ms200/201 and they are good quality but way heavier than the lights. I don't use my 200t/201t as much these days. The little sub 30cc super light wieghts are my preference but I have a 201 rear handle with 12"light and thats a very light and capable little limbing saw, fun to run with timing advance & MM.

Redbull thanks for the testing. My choice in bars will be the one I think will LAST the longest. Cannon I'd bet. Waiting on the Cannon lightweights. I'll never buy any ES bars again.
