Anybody use ground anchors to secure a pull point , using cables, pulleys and a winch to direct trees when felling???

Thanks, sorry if this has been discussed before

Have used a truck axle as an anchor to unstick pick-up trucks.
Those were not fun days.

Bro in law heats with wood and cuts a lot of trees. He uses a half inch steel cable hooked to his pickup. We have dropped probably 40 trees this way.

4x4 pick up truck front hooks, trees, tree stumps and large equipment, yes. Ground anchors nfw! Most of my redirects were leaning over a home. Set up, clear the structure of humans and the like. Set the line tight and get right to it. The pulling method has been many.
Skip utility poles also. Moved a few with the tow truck anchored to them. I have used the base of a very large pole to redirect limbs and medium size trees under five ton. Very picky about my redirect points especially on double or triple points with over a hundred feet of line or cable out there. Be smart!

We do hope your using a bridal across the two front tow hooks of a 4x4 at the minimum. Finding hard frozen ground, pavement or concrete is your best bet. It is also good practice to redirect from the ground up. Pulling down is always better than being lifted off the ground. More bite and much more pull. I have a front locker to get it done.

Trying my out prose ;)
I have been through the mud and snow and sand and don't mind reminiscing
but certainly don't entertain the notion of any more of it.

"Trying my out prose ;)"

Thought typo for trying my out house.
Looked it up and that lead to more goofy stuff lol.

Some real word smiths on here, (not me).
I can understand the guys from across the pond better than some Americans on here. But that's how we learn.

Back to the guys question. And have a good Friday everyone.

Probably easier to associate me with the Canadian Fellers(think Red Green)

I was thinking of my Grandpa and his 'lil' jingle "How much wood can a woodchuck chuck when I saw the
unstick pick-up trucks
And just haddta say something

He uses a big azz shackle on a pintle ring in the receiver hitch. 4x4 but he won't pull on pavevent. He would rather be on dirt or dry grass. If he looses traction on pavement it gets squirrelly. Grass or dirt has less suprises. So far has only misjudged the tree height a couple times.
