So, how many times have ya had trouble getting an outer race out of a case half.

Bearing is shot, metal or nylon cage is gone.... ugh. time for a torch, or grinder /chisel / hammer

OR, that super special race puller that @afleetcommand has.....

NOPE

here ya go

MUCH more simple :) ...AND cheap!

Stihl working Hard

Easier method is to get the balls out and remove the inner race then weld a bead in the middle of the outer race. It will shrink the race and it will fall out. Work well if you have a welder.

Still, good tip for people who don't have a welder.

I gots a welder, just not with me currently...

i like the weld a bead trick... thats a great idea...

For those that say...well..what if the balls are missing,...take the out of the other bearing you are going to replace ...odds are you are gonna replace both bearings if you are this far into a project, so tear out the cage on the other bearing (after you get it out of the chassis of course) and use those balls and maybe the inner race too to pull out the outer race as shown in the vid. :)

Any time I've seen the welder truck they usually weld about half the race. Idk if there is a minimum amount you should use it not. A small spot weld isn't likely going to be enough though.
