Has anyone used gorilla or duct tape as a way to seal up a cylinder for a pressure or vac test?
Is it possible or just a dumb idea. Thanks

do it all the time. usually have to "reach around" to get it to actually hold but it does work if the surfaces are flat enough and you know what yer doin

I've never been able to get it to work. Haven't really tried that hard either though.

Well I can give it a try, can’t really hurt anything and I may find another item for gorilla tape to advertise. Thanks for the input.

I use it frequently on intakes. Make sure to clean really well with carb cleaner so tape will stick. The band clamp for the intake boot will help hold it down. Depending on the band clamp, sometimes I have to put the boot on over the gorilla tape.

On the exhaust side, I usually use a thick rubber thing that I believe I bought in a set from @Definitive Dave held tight by the muffler.

I also use it all the time! I also cut up an innertube from my mountain bike and use that rubber. The tape will work well for both pressure and vac if the surface is flat and really clean.

I grabbed a large assortment of tire patches from work for this purpose. Way easier and cheaper too. They are soft flexible and seal really well if you know how to use the cement. Couldnt tell you how much they are but "ap6 " patch is about perfect for most intakes and some exhausts. "Ct10hd" is perfect for the ported ones or large cube saws.

This stuff works much better than gorilla tape.

Good news, bad news. The tape held, the seals are leaking.

Any tips on installing the seals?
